Article 4 and Question 3: Design of a Wastewater Treatment Facility and Collection System for Waquoit Bay Informational Session-April 23, Mashpee TV

Waquoit Bay has experienced serious harm from nitrogen contamination in groundwater, primarily caused by septic systems. In the Waquoit watershed, John’s and Ashumet Ponds also face impairment due to phosphorus from septic systems, while the Quashnet River continues to struggle with nutrient loading issues.

Centralized wastewater treatment is widely recognized as the most effective method to reduce nitrogen and phosphorus pollution in the bay and surrounding ponds within the Waquoit watershed.
